Lost and Found Day is in honor of June 20th. It is the day my Mom passed away, and also the day 10 years later that the relationship with my husband began. It reminds me that beautiful things can grow from devastating events. Even when you feel lost, hope can be found.
Hi! My name is Nikki and I live in Alberta Canada. I am currently listed for a double lung transplant. I have been blown away by how many different auto-immune disorders and diseases can have life sustained through organ donation. This is a very difficult "fix" and there are no guarantees. Many people listed will not find a match. Those that do, aren't cured, but now have a new road of survivorship.
This project is simply to address a few simple things in this varied and ever changing medical need.
1) For families to know and support the decision of their loved ones to be an organ donor.
2) To bring comfort to individuals on their journey to organ transplantation.
If you wish to donate to organ donation charities may I recommend the Alberta Transplant Institute or a local transplant program in your area.
